Multicultural London! Anyone for our class??? Imagine the number of variables :) Do you think University Of Westminster targeted us differently or is it easier for educational institutions?

I think it's easier for educational institutions in London because they just have to wait for people to come to them. The UK, and London in particular, has such a massive global presence in the culturs of so many different countries that there are always going to be thousands of young people across the world who want to come and study here. No one from UoW ever approached me. I knew what type of course I wanted to do and it was just a case fo finding it.

The reason why I posed this question is that the University had some representatives talk to us on a personal basis, which was a good thing as the course is pretty costly in terms of finance and it is still a huge deal to leave home and study abroad. Personal, face to face talks make it more reachable, tangible in some ways and credible.

Well, I have not been approached personally, either and was quite surprised when I first heard, that such informative meetings take place in India, for example. The UoW advertises the fact that it is a multicultural university (see website). There are special scholarship schemes for our course, for instance, that I, as a German, would have never been told about, because they are reserved for students from other countries. Therefore: Yes, the university does target us differently, because, ultimately, we undeniably have different starting points and needs. If it does the multiculturalism any good to keep going with this targeting throughout the university life, however, is another question. Too much differentiation in targeting could ultimately even lead to seperation.

i think it is easier for educational institutions specially in london, since people across the world want to come to this city of dreams, the university of westminster has so many students that come from different countries and nationalties... for example our class of 42 students has more number of international students than british...
